a bit about us
saudade - a longing for handmade artisan gifts
I learned to sew at a young age with my aunt and godmother that both liked to sew. I learned how to cut patterns with my aunt who made her own outfits. I was gifted my own sewing machine (yes, the one I still use today), for my fourteenth birthday, a gift from my godmother who taught me how to make a French seam.
I always had a love for sewing and making handmade goods and having three girls gave me the opportunity to put together various items for them throughout their childhood. From Halloween costumes to fancy dresses, pillows, curtains, even a comforter! While the girls never took hold to my affinity for cross-stitching (my other passion project), they each grew to love the items I made, sharing and handing down dresses to each other.
Even though they’re much older now I still often hear, “Mom! Can you make me this?!” From here came Raposo Boutique - expanding my love for sewing and sharing my project. I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I love creating every item!
